Perhaps some of this pent-up demand for EVs will spur local municipalities and utilities to ramp up smart grid efforts. When you plug in your EV one of these days, no doubt you’ll want to have that usage data mapped to the rest of your home’s consumption. It’s still early for some of the smart meters that’ll push this along, but it’s happening.

“Early demand for the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle is strong, with 6,635 people reserving cars in just three days — a figure that represents more than 10 percent of the Leafs Nissan will build in its first year of production.”
